Second meeting of administration and Senate leaders seeking to unify on aid package.
On Tuesday, key administration and Senate leaders, including Treasury Secretary Mnuchin, Chief of Staff Meadows, Appropriations Committee Chairman Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama, HELP Committee Chair Senator Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, and Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri, met to discuss strategy for negotiations with Congress to bring relief to Americans struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the list of items being negotiated is increased funding for statewide testing, a push to abolish the payroll tax, and the possibility of a second round of direct payments. During a Senate speech, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also stated that he would be pushing for funding to reopen schools as a part of the package.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Congress to have wisdom about creating the most effective aid package.
- That God would use President Trump to bring an end to the pandemic.
- For Secretary Mnuchin to find the best means to bring economic relief to Americans.
